By January 1, 2021, DuPont™ Styrofoam™ Brand XPS Boardstock Insulation will begin transitioning to a reduced GWP grey color in Canada and select U.S. states1.
The change is easy to identify; we are modifying the color of reduced GWP Styrofoam™ Brand XPS from the traditional blue to the new grey2. If you're in select U.S. states or Canada, you'll see the change by January 1, 2021, with plans to expand the product offering going forward.

Grey Styrofoam™ Brand XPS beyond blue
Without compromising on quality, durability or thermal performance, we are introducing a new Styrofoam™ Brand XPS formulation that reduces global warming potential (GWP) and greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions.
Performance is not a color
Reduced GWP Styrofoam™ Brand XPS delivers the same R-value3 — R-5 per inch thickness — for long-term thermal performance. The grey color lets you know it was made with a reduced global warming potential (GWP) formulation.
With the same thermal performance, moisture resistance, durability and easy to handle, this reduced GWP Styrofoam™ Brand XPS Insulation along with our complete building envelope solutions, delivers protection that's a sure fit for all six sides.
The reduced GWP Styrofoam™ Brand products will be available in the first regions by January 1, 2021. This includes select U.S. states and across Canada, with plans to expand the product offering going forward. Refer to the Styrofoam™ Brand XPS Code Report ICC-ESR 2142 for details.

When you need a dark reveal behind open-joint façade systems and rainscreen designs, the new grey Styrofoam™ Brand XPS has you covered. These rigid foam boards provide durable and highly efficient continuous insulation (CI) — preventing thermal bridging and adding great energy performance and sustainability to the structure.
Styrofoam™ Brand XPS resists stains, while other products can get unsightly dark stains. These stains can also be seen through the cladding on inadequately insulated wood and steel stud walls.
When you use new grey, reduced GWP Styrofoam™ Brand XPS, you will get aesthetics, performance and sustainability.
